About the role

This role requires providing tax and accounting services to a client base of small businesses and individuals. You will learn progressively while applying your learning to real-life client work, with direct access and mentoring from a very experienced practitioner and director of the firm who has a twenty-year track record working with a broad range of clients.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of individual, partnership, trust and company income tax returns.
  • Prepare and assist with Business Activity Statements (BAS) and Instalment Activity Statements (IAS).
  • Complete bank reconciliations, bookkeeping and general ledger reviews as required.
  • Work closely with senior accountants and managers and action review points and feedback.
  • Develop knowledge of Australian taxation, accounting standards and compliance requirements.
  • Follow the firm's internal procedures, workflows, quality control and documentation standards.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deadlines and communicate promptly where additional information or assistance is required.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training, professional development and mentoring.
  • Support the wider accounting team during busy lodgement and compliance periods.
  • Willingness to listen and carry out tasks outlined by the director
  • Ambition and respect for the opportunity to work your way up from the ground up
  • Belief that you are capable of a large amount of professional growth over a short number of years
