RICHMOND, BC (HYBRID)

Graymont is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our team at our head office in Richmond, BC. This is a hybrid role, offering a blend of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. Reporting to the Accounting and Reporting Manager, the successful candidate will bring a solid understanding of IFRS, advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and hands-on experience with ERP systems. We are looking for a proactive professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage multiple priorities effectively, and works well both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation is preferred.
  • Professional Experience: Demonstrated experience in applying IFRS standards and preparing and analyzing financial statements. Skilled in performing month-end close activities and reconciling general ledger accounts, inventory, and fixed assets. Proven ability to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial reporting.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis, formulas, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Technology Requirements: Strong experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly financial statements and reports.
  • Perform month end accounting.
  • Prepare general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Inventory accounting: perform inventory reconciliations, inventory re-valuations and review production costs.
  • Fixed asset accounting: create, modify and dispose of assets, record and review depreciation, and prepare fixed asset continuity schedules.
  • Prepare bank reconciliation in multiple currencies and perform other banking duties.
  • Perform variance analysis and provide explanations for monthly, quarterly and yearly performance.
  • Assist with preparation of financial presentation and reports for management and Board of Directors.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
  • Work on ad hoc projects and analysis with general guidance and independently drive them to completion.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Leverage ERP system and reporting tool (JD Edwards and Cognos) for journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Support audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor queries.
  • Issue various financial and statistical reports required by government agencies and management.
  • Prepare sales tax returns.
