Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment for the Accountant I (Specialist) classification in the Fiscal Services, Accounting Unit.
Under the direct supervision of the Accounting Administrator I, the Accountant I Specialist performs the more difficult semi-professional accounting work in establishing and maintaining accounts and records.
Responsible for receipting in all cash for the Accounting and Trust Departments. Reconciles and performs daily cash counts. Tracks unreleased and undelivered warrants. Assists in preparation and distribution of all payroll warrants. Acts as one of the primary custodians of both Trust and Accounting petty cash and the change fund. Opens and distributes appropriately all mail received for the Accounting office, daily. Answers the front desk phone line and provides customer service or directs calls to appropriate staff.
Responsible for entering all Accounts Receivable Invoices into the Fi$Cal system based on documents received from the Accounting Administrator I (accounts Receivable) or Accounting supervision; and adjusting Accounts Receivable Invoices and Payroll Accounts Receivables when necessary and appropriate. Acts as a backup and assists with Accounts Payables section. Acts as a backup for preparing the deposits for Accounting and Trust.
Updates annually the file for staff authorized to pick up payroll warrants on pay days.

Working Conditions
Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
