We have a current opening for a mid to senior level full-time Accountant based out of our St. Paul, Minnesota, or Hood River, Oregon office.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This position will support the ongoing growth of the organization and collaborate with our professional staff to serve our clients. The Accountant will coordinate with the CFO and Financial Controller and is required to undertake all aspects of company accounting systems, including regulatory and financial reporting, project costing, reporting and invoicing and monthly financial statements.
The ideal candidate is well organized, resourceful, innovative, and pays great attention to detail. The right person is motivated, a quick learner, works with minimal supervision, has a great attitude, and is skilled in follow-through to complete tasks. The position requires strong multitasking skills and successful collaboration with many different personnel, including working directly with technical staff across the country.
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.
Location: St. Paul, Minnesota, or Hood River, Oregon

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting and/or finance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar equivalent degree.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Candidate should be highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Candidate will anticipate project needs and identify work assignments independently.
  • Successful candidate will be proactive, self-motivated and able to excel at working with local and virtual teams.
  • Car and valid driver’s license.
  • This position may require lifting and/or moving of equipment and/or supplies weighing up to 40lbs.

ADDITIONAL DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPA or CMA is highly preferred.
  • Experience with creating financial statements is a plus.
  • Experience with Ajera or Deltek financial software is a plus.
  • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process is a plus.
  • The desired candidate should have an appreciation for the outdoors and the natural environment.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate with the Financial Controller and support all accounting operations including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure quality control and GAAP compliance over financial transactions and financial reporting.
  • Prepare and publish timely, monthly financial statements and reporting.
  • Coordinate state and federal tax compliance and the preparation of regulatory and tax reporting.
  • Coordinate the preparation of FAR compliant indirect cost rate.
  • Coordinate reporting and compliance with Canadian based projects, including quarterly sales tax reporting.
  • Coordinate with Project Administrators and Managers of our projects to ensure administrative including contract compliance, documentation, costing, subcontractor compliance and invoicing, client invoicing and collection management, and project closeout.
  • Act as a point of contact for any client, subcontractor or internal team member on questions related to project finances.
  • Administer the company stock program including documentation.
  • Coordinate accounting and reporting for affiliated entities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
