QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA designation preferred).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and integrity.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW:

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the company’s financial records, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making. This role is key to maintaining the financial health and integrity of the organization.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts regularly.
  • Manage payroll, including processing, reporting, and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax laws.
  • Monitor company budgets and provide variance analysis reports.
  • Support the leadership team with financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end audits and liaise with external auditors as needed.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial controls and processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay up-to-date on changes in accounting standards and regulations.
