POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant who contracts out, to join our team in the aggregate industry locally in Orillia. The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing financial transactions, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies. This role supports operations by tracking costs, analyzing financial data, and providing insights that contribute to efficient and profitable business performance, requiring proficiency in our accounting software and a strong understanding of business practices. A local candidate is preferred who can work independently from home or at our office.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

· Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/ACCA preferred).
· 5+ years of accounting experience (aggregate, construction materials, or manufacturing industry preferred).
· Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, or industry-specific Classic Software).
· Advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and data analysis.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to work independently at home or at company office.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts, reconcile bank statements, Accounts Payable and Receivable, manage payroll processing
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and profitability of aggregate operations.
  • Perform variance and cost analysis for production, transportation, and inventory.
    · Cost Accounting & Inventory Control
    o Track production costs for quarry, mining, and aggregate processing operations.
    o Maintain and reconcile raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventory.
    o Support management in pricing, cost allocation, and margin analysis.
    · Compliance & Controls
    o Ensure compliance with TOARC and Ministry Regulations.
    o Prepare tax filings (HST/Payroll Reports).
    o Support internal and external audits with accurate documentation.
    o Implement financial controls to minimize risks and improve efficiency.
    · Operational Support
    o Collaborate with operations, and teams to track costs.
    o Assist in budgeting and forecasting for capital projects and operational expenses.
    o Provide financial insights to improve fleet management, fuel usage, and material handling.
