We are seeking a Junior Accountant to join our team and contribute to the management of accounting functions and the success of our client’s financial operations.

Position Overview:

The Junior will play an essential role within our finance team, supporting transactional accounting for USMS to include Intergovernmental Transactions, Travel/Relocation, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, solid analytical skills, and the ability to work efficiently with federal financial systems such as Momentum’s Unified Financial Management System (UFMS). This position is based in Arlington, VA and requires the candidate to work in person at the client site.

Key Responsibilities:
· Financial Reporting:
o Assist in preparing accurate financial statements and reports in compliance with accounting standards and federal regulations.
o Support the development of monthly accounts payable metrics to ensure timely and accurate invoice submission through UFMS.
· Audit Support:
o Provide necessary documentation for internal and external audits.
o Assist with maintaining strong internal controls to ensure compliance and accountability in all financial processes.
· Financial Analysis:
o Conduct financial analyses to identify trends, variances, and areas for operational improvement.
o Support the reconciliation of Fleet and Wex card transactions, ensuring they are accurate and compliant with financial policies.
· Cost Accounting:
o Analyze costs associated with operations and provide recommendations to enhance efficiency and control costs.
o Assist with the reconciliation of U.S. Standard General Ledger accounts for monthly transactions.
· Payment Support Services:
o Process invoices and demand notices per UFMS protocols.
o Complete data entry accurately in the Treasury Secure Payment System, maintaining a low error rate in invoice processing.
· Team Collaboration:
o Work with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and help resolve inquiries related to financial transactions and policies.
· Training and Development:
o Contribute to the training of junior accounting staff.
o Assist in developing and delivering training materials related to financial systems and procedures.
· Travel and Relocation Support:
o Assist with the review and processing of travel vouchers, ensuring compliance with Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
o Support relocation processes and provide guidance to employees during their transitions.
· Administrative Support:
o Assist with general administrative duties for the finance team, including document management, filing, and supporting financial training initiatives.
· Additional Responsibilities:
o Generate monthly billing reports and maintain accurate records for Intragovernmental Payments and Collections (IPAC) transactions.
o Support audit preparations by ensuring compliance with internal controls and providing accurate documentation for review.

o Monitor unliquidated obligations and assist in providing periodic reports to management on financial status.

Qualifications:
· Education:
o Bachelor’s degree
· Experience:
o 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounting, financial analysis, or financial operations.
o Strong understanding of federal accounting regulations and procedures.
· Software Skills:
o Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
o Experience with Momentum-based systems, particularly Unified Financial Management System (UFMS). Experience can be substituted on a case-by-case basis depending on prior experience.
· Skills & Knowledge:
o Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail in financial reporting and reconciliations.
o Ability to work efficiently with accounting systems and assist in resolving accounting discrepancies.
o Knowledge of Federal Travel Regulations (FTR) and IPAC is a plus.
· Clearance:

o U.S. citizenship is required; candidates must be able to obtain a Public Trust federal security clearance.
