POSITION SUMMARY:

As an Accountant, you will play a key role in enduring the firm’s ongoing compliance with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization (CIRO)’s financial and operational standards. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of regulatory reporting under the CIRO, including preparation and submission of Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs), Risk Adjusted Capital (RAC) calculations, and compliance with CIRO rule book requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation (or in final stages of completion) preferred
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably within the financial services or brokerage industry
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, CIRO Rule Book, MFR, RAC, and other related regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with financial reporting software and Excel
  • Detail-oriented, analytical, and able to meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit Monthly Financial Reports (MFRs) and ensure timely filing with CIRO.
  • Perform Risk Adjusted Capital (RAC) calculations, maintaining appropriate capital levels at all times.
  • Prepare and reconcile General Ledger, Trial Balance, and working papers for both internal use and external audit
  • Liaise with regulators and respond to CIRO queries related to financial filings and audits
  • Prepare Annual Audited Financial Stateements and coordinate with external auditors
  • Monitor the firm’s capital position and report any material changes to senior management
  • Support tax reporting and year-end audit processes
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and Canadian financial regulations
