Description
Position Overview The Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The role ensures that core monthly and quarterly accounting functions are completed efficiently and on time. The Accountant provides essential financial support through reconciliation of government scheme operations (PALM), processing creditor invoices, and performing various administrative tasks to ensure smooth financial processes. This involves building strong internal relationships, understanding business needs, and establishing trust across the organization. A significant portion of this role (approx. 40–50%) involves reconciliation of candidate deductions under the Governments PALM Scheme. Roles and Responsibilities: General Ledger Reconciliations Balance sheet reconciliations for two entities Suspense account reconciliation Credit card reconciliation Casual deduction reconciliation PALM Reconciliation (Approx. 40–50% of role) Reconcile candidate deductions for PALM Scheme clients Payroll vs General Ledger reconciliations (PALM) Identify and investigate discrepancies between deductions and costs Liaise with various departments to obtain information for reconciliation Prepare and present regular reconciliation reports Accounts Payable Process credit card transactions (approx. 20 cards) Process corporate traveller and NIB invoices Other AP activities as require Accounts Receivable Bank reconciliation backup Weekly debtors report preparation and follow-up Reporting Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities Maintain financial records in compliance with company policies Auditing Assist with annual audit processes as needed Prepare all audit information as required Other Responsibilities Perform reasonable duties as assigned by the manager Provide updates and critical information to internal stakeholders Maintain effective relationships across the organization Report all activities, issues, concerns, and successes to management Required Experience Experience with reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reporting Exposure to payroll and government scheme deductions is preferred Experience working in team environments and supporting others Minimum Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong numerical and analytical skills Proficiency with accounting software (MYOB/Xero/Astute is a plus) Advanced Microsoft Excel skills A Successful Candidate Must Have Exceptional attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage tasks, prioritize, and work independently Empathy, resilience, and industriousness in approach Strong written and verbal communication capabilities Proficient With Microsoft Office 365 Suite (high-level Excel required) Accounting software: MYOB, Xero (Astute is a plus) Competencies & Behaviours Process-driven and efficiency-focused ShoreXtra Perks Day 1 HMO coverage Day shift schedule with fixed weekends off Game lounge access Gym membership discounts & other lifestyle perks Engaging monthly activities Free and unlimited barista-style coffee Free parking & shuttle services Employee referral incentives (Silver)
