Description Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with specialized expertise in manufacturing cost accounting to join our team. This role focuses on supporting plant operations through accurate cost tracking, variance analysis, inventory management, and collaboration with plant leadership. The ideal candidate will ensure precise costing, identify cost-saving opportunities, and contribute to financial accuracy in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Run daily reports for plant costing analysis, including production costs, variances, and performance metrics. Perform daily cycle counts and reconcile inventory adjustments to maintain accurate inventory records. Manage divisional transfers, ensuring proper costing and documentation across locations. Lead weekly meetings with plant managers to reconcile variances, absorption rates, inventory adjustments, and expenses versus budget; provide clear explanations and actionable insights. Evaluate and update labor and overhead rates for each manufacturing location to reflect current operations. Process manufacturing orders (MOs) as needed to support production and costing accuracy. Conduct revaluations of SKUs (stock keeping units) as required to align costs with current standards and market conditions. Analyze actual vs. standard costs, investigate variances, and recommend adjustments to Bills of Materials (BOMs), routing, or processes in collaboration with operations and engineering teams. Support month-end close activities related to manufacturing costs, including journal entries, accruals, and reporting. Assist in developing and maintaining standard cost systems to ensure reliable product costing. Monitor inventory valuation and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal policies. **Other duties as assigned** Requirements Qualifications Required: Experience in cost accounting, with specific manufacturing cost accounting experience (e.g., standard costing, variance analysis, absorption accounting in a production environment) preferred. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, inventory management, and cost drivers (labor, overhead, materials). Proficiency in ERP systems (Microsoft NAV or others) for costing and reporting. Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIFS, data analysis functions) and experience with reporting tools. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills; ability to present findings to non-finance stakeholders. High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred. Experience with multi-plant or divisional operations preferred. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles or continuous improvement initiatives.
