Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant for a full-time role supporting METECS’ Accounting team. This position involves applying financial regulations—including Cost Accounting Standards and GAAP—to company processes, policies, and procedures. Under the guidance of the senior accountant, this candidate will help maintain accurate financial records, prepare reports, and contribute to various accounting functions. This position will play a key role in daily accounting operations and financial analysis, supporting the Senior Accountant with the following responsibilities: Record and summarize financial transactions, update the general ledger, and ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Support accounts payable and receivable functions. Assist with bank reconciliations to help identify and resolve discrepancies. Maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and general ledger account analysis. Prepare and analyze financial information in accordance with GAAP and other applicable regulations and accounting standards. .Contribute to daily accounting processes including journal entries Assist with monthly analysis of revenue, expenses, and budget variances across departments. Generate routine and ad-hoc financial reports to support operational review and decision making. Participate in special projects as requested. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field and 0-3 Years of Experience. 0-3 Years of experience in accounting or a similar role. Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices and procedures. Proficiency is Microsoft Excel and Word at an intermediate level. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent organization skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks. Ability to plan effectively, meet deadlines, and maintain schedules. Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with government contracting processes Working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). Experience using QuickBooks for accounting and financial reporting. Familiarity with government contracting processes. Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
