EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Should you consider applying for this position, it is expected that you have the following experience and skills.

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a small to medium business accounting firm
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent)
  • General Ledger and Balance Sheet reconciliation skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Excellent computer literacy
  • Proficiency in XERO, XPM, and BGL software
  • Financial planning experience (bonus but not essential)

The Role: Reporting directly to the Practice Principal & Senior Accountant your duties include but are not limited to

  • Accounts payable, Accounts Receivable and Payroll
  • Bank Reconciliations
  • Company tax returns
  • SMSF tax document verification for Audit purpose
  • Tax planning for financial planning clients
  • General Ledger reconciliation and investigation of reconciling items
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Assisting with the preparation of budgeting and forecasting reports
  • Cash Flow statements
  • Preparation and processing of month end reporting up to the trial balance stage
  • Processing of accruals, prepayments and subsequent journals
  • Preparation of FBT, GST and BAS return for the Manager to review before submission
  • Other ad hoc accounting duties to support the broader team
  • Analysing data collected in order to determine the state of the company’s financial health
  • Analysing data to understand where the company is generating and losing revenue
  • Generating financial reports that display the company’s profits, equity and cash flow
