We provide assurance and scientific expertise across global food, healthcare, and regulated markets through: BRCGS – supply chain assurance solutions (London) INFORMED – testing and certification programmes (Cambridge) National Laboratories & Science (NLS) – scientific services supporting UK Government, industry, and academia (Guildford & Twickenham) Job Description This is a hybrid role with regular travel between our London (Victoria), Guildford and Twickenham locations, typically 2-3 days per week onsite. The NLS Accountant will support the financial reporting and planning activities of the NLS business unit. Working closely with the Business and Group Finance/Analytics colleagues to drive improvements in reporting accuracy, quality, efficiency, depth and insight. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties: Owning weekly/monthly business performance reporting processes. Working closely with the business to ensure delivery of accurate and insightful reporting, commentary and variance analysis in a timely, efficient and effective manner Ownership of overheads cost centre accounting (journal posting, P&L review, BS reconciliation). Co-ordination of monthly balance sheet review process. Owning monthly cost modelling process for GMG, including providing summary analytics of position, variances, changes, risks and opportunities. Work with cost owners to drive accurate forecasts and identify efficiencies. Provide financial modelling support for project work, including transition, exit, change control and new business. Drive movement to standardised models, rate cards and activity based costing/pricing. Supporting the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities - including inputs, process and outputs Ad-hoc journals / review / support for the business as required Ad-hoc project support to priority NLS & Group Finance initiatives Qualifications Essential Knowledge & Qualifications: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA). Experience in a financial reporting, FP&A or business partnering role desirable Strong financial modelling skills Strong business & commercial acumen and stakeholder management Confident in MS Excel techniques (report building, analytics, pivot tables etc) Experience within project accounting, cost accounting or scientific/manufacturing environments would be advantageous.
