Polkinghorn Group Architects, an Architecture design firm, is seeking a full-time accountant who is familiar with cost accounting, financial oversight and management, and payroll services to perform financial oversight of our business. This position requires someone with good analytical skills, intellectual curiosity to ask questions, who is able to take on additional responsibilities when needed and communicate well with staff, principals, customers and vendors.
Responsibilities:
· Invoicing: Prepare drafts of invoices on architectural contracts along with supplying appropriate documentation and approval, enter invoices, and follow up on client collections.
· Accounts Payable Payment Processing: Administer timely payment processing for payments to vendors and consultants
· Monthly reconciliations of bank accounts, credit cards, A/R and AP
· Monitoring cash flow
· Maintaining company records including licensure in multiple states
· Semi-monthly payroll processing with Sage50
· Inquiry Handling: Answer inquiries from staff, vendors, or clients.
· Special Projects: Assist with special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.
· Accounting Support: Provide accounting support to Principals and other staff as needed.
Required Skills:
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and procedures.
Experience with financial statement preparation and payroll processing and reporting requirements.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills, including intermediate Excel skills.
Communication Skills: Effective communication skills, including good phone etiquette and the ability to communicate with all levels and disciplines of the organization.
Accounting Software: Familiarity with Sage50 or similar accounting software required.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field required
Experience: At least three years of accounting experience, with project accounting experience preferred.
