Our client, a well-established organization based in Kelowna with operations extending beyond the local market, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to join their team. Reporting directly to senior leadership, this position serves as the key finance professional within the organization, responsible for full-cycle accounting, payroll, and financial reporting. Responsibilities: Payroll & Employee Administration: Process bi-weekly payroll, manage employee benefits and RRSP plans, and handle onboarding and terminations (including ROEs and final pay). Maintain accurate payroll and HR records; Accounts Receivable & Customer Billing: Prepare and issue invoices, record payments, manage deposits, and follow up on overdue accounts; Accounts Payable & Vendor Management: Set up vendors, process bills and payments (EFT, wire, e-transfer, cheque), and reconcile credit card and bank statements; Financial Record-keeping & Month-End Close: Enter and reconcile transactions, prepaid expenses, and deferred income. Complete month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting; Reporting & Compliance: Review financial statements for accuracy, prepare government filings (GST, PST, payroll taxes), and support external accountants during year-end audits; Financial Oversight & Strategic Support: Monitor cash flow, account balances, and financial metrics; provide insights and recommendations to support business planning and operational decision-making. Requirements 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle bookkeeping, payroll, and financial reporting; Strong working knowledge of common accounting and payroll platforms; Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements; Experience preparing and filing government remittances and supporting year-end audits; Ability to manage both day-to-day financial operations and higher-level strategic analysis; Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills; Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment; Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. This is a full-time, permanent position based in Kelowna, BC, offering a competitive salary range of $70,000–$80,000, depending on experience. The organization provides employer-paid benefits after three months and RRSP contributions after one year, along with three weeks of vacation to start and opportunities for professional growth.
