ACCOUNTANT

Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum DOE
Location: South Kensington (Hybrid - 3 days office based)
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Robert Half are partnering with a growing SME (£10m TO) business within the aviation sector to recruit an Accountant on a permanent basis. This is a broad and varied role, ideal for a finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on position and top to bottom role.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Qualified by Experience (QBE) considered.
  • At least 5 years of relevant finance experience in an SME hands on role - transactional (AP/AR) + month end and trial balance.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and analysis preferred.
  • Credit card analysis is a bonus.
  • Proficiency in Sage 50 is desirable
  • Excellent communication, analytical and organisational skills.
Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the business owner, the Accountant will take ownership of day-to-day financial management as well as longer-term planning and analysis. The role is currently stand-alone but has the potential to develop further as the company continues to expand.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payments, payroll, bank reconciliations, VAT returns and the general ledger.
  • Prepare and present monthly management accounts and financial reports to the owner up to trial balance. There will be liaison with the external accountants before final review, with the opportunity to bring this fully in house in the future.
  • Lead the preparation of ad-hoc budgets, forecasts and financial plans.
  • Monitor financial performance and provide variance analysis.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and internal controls.
  • Liaise with external auditors, advisors and financial institutions, managing audits and supporting regulatory requirements.
  • Support business strategy with cash flow analysis and scenario planning.
  • Maintain credit card reconciliations and associated reporting.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects as required.
