The Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust is one of the nation’s leading regional foundations with assets of over $380 million and an annual grant distribution of approximately $16 million in the broad program areas of biomedical and scientific research, education and youth recreation. Examples of major science-oriented endeavors funded by the Carver Charitable Trust include establishment of the Iowa Neuroscience Institute on the University of Iowa campus, launching of the Structural Biology Research Initiative within the Roy J. Carver Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology at Iowa State University and formation of the Roy J. Carver Biotechnology Center on the campus of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Position: The Trust is currently seeking candidates for a newly created ACCOUNTANT position. Located in the Trust’s newly remodeled and expanded headquarters in downtown Muscatine, Iowa, this position will serve in a professional capacity, assuming various duties related to accounting and compliance, and reporting directly to the Finance Director.
Responsibilities: The incumbent will prepare and post transactions and manage the general ledger; assist with monthly and year-end accounting close processes, including preparation of monthly financial review packages; complete detailed account reconciliations; assist the Finance Director with various compliance responsibilities; perform ad hoc tasks and reporting requests for the management team as needed related to the various functions; contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting procedures; and support special accounting projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications: An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting and 2+ years of accounting experience are required. Additional prerequisites include a strong attention to detail, as well as the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Compensation: The starting salary for this position will generally fall within the range of $60-$75K, based on the candidate’s credentials and relevant work experience. A generous comprehensive benefits package is also provided.
