S&B Private is the Colombo office of a growing Australian Chartered Accounting practice based in Melbourne, Australia. We are building a team of talented accountants who want front office experience, genuine career development, and a workplace that backs them for the long term. In this role, you will work as a core member of an Australian accounting firm's team, not as a remote support function. The responsibilities will include end to end involvement in tax compliance, financial statement preparation and client reporting across a diverse portfolio of Australian individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships. Learning is built into how we work. We run weekly technical training sessions covering Australian accounting standards, tax, and finance best practices. Training has always been at the forefront of what we do at S&B Private. As your experience grows, so does your role in these sessions, with the opportunity to research and present your own topics to your peers. You will also contribute to projects involving automation, technology improvements, and smarter ways of delivering compliance work, helping the firms we work with build more efficient, scalable practices. We offer: Study support for CA Sri Lanka, ACCA, CIMA and CTA Weekly technical training sessions covering Australian tax and accounting standards Hands on involvement in technology and process improvement projects Mentorship from senior accountants and directors personally invested in your growth Structured, performance based career progression with a clear path forward Above market remuneration reviewed regularly based on performance Hybrid working - 3 days in office, 2 days from home Working hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm SLT, aligned to Australian business hours A professional, collaborative, and genuinely supportive team culture Medical insurance coverage for you and your immediate family Regular social events, celebrations, and activities that make coming to work something to look forward to Key Responsibilities Tax Compliance Prepare annual income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, companies, and trusts Prepare and reference supporting workpapers including tax reconciliations, fixed asset registers, rental property and motor vehicle calculations, and capital gains calculations Monitor tax lodgement lists and ensure compliance with ATO deadlines Liaise with the Australian firm's internal teams and clients to support accurate and timely lodgements Coordinate with the ATO regarding tax payments, lodgement status, payment plans, and interest remissions Support tax planning and advisory work as required Accounting & Financial Reporting Prepare annual financial statements for Australian private companies in compliance with Australian accounting standards Prepare monthly management accounts with analytical review and variance analysis where required Manage intercompany transactions including interest charges and service fee postings Support month end close processes including reconciliations and journal entries Prepare supporting workpapers, reconciliations, and schedules to a high standard Process Improvement & Technology Identify opportunities to streamline compliance workflows and reporting processes Contribute to automation and technology projects that improve the efficiency of how compliance work is delivered Work with tools such as Xero, MYOB, and cloud based tax and practice management platforms What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline Part qualified or currently studying toward CA Sri Lanka, CPA Australia, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent Minimum two years' experience in an accounting or tax compliance role Exposure to Australian, UK, or international accounting and tax standards is an advantage, though not essential as structured training is provided Strong technical understanding of accounting and tax principles Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines across multiple clients in a fast paced environment Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cloud based accounting platforms Benefits at a Glance Above market salary package, reviewed based on performance Study support program for CA / ACCA / CIMA / CTA Structured Australian tax and accounting training program Exposure to automation and technology tools shaping the future of public practice Hybrid working - 3 days office, 2 days remote Working hours 7:00am – 3:30pm SLT Annual leave, medical leave, and Sri Lankan public holidays A close knit, high performing team that celebrates wins together Comprehensive medical insurance coverage
