JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Accountant to join our founding team. This role will be instrumental in building and managing all aspects of the plant’s accounting and financial functions. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with solid experience in cost accounting within a manufacturing environment, who thrives in a fast-paced, start-up like setting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CMA certification is a strong plus.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or financial analysis within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics). Experience with system implementation is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with both financial and non-financial personnel.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a dynamic, “start-up” environment as the facility ramps up.

Responsibilities
  • Cost Accounting & Analysis: Own the cost accounting system; analyze and report on manufacturing costs, including raw material, labor, and overhead. Calculate standard costs and monitor variances.
  • Month-End Close: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process for the plant, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee inventory accounting, including cycle counts, physical inventory audits, and reconciliation of inventory sub-ledger to the general ledger.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate plant financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet) and management reports. Provide key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production efficiency, scrap, yield, etc.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the development of the plant’s annual operating budget and periodic forecasting.
  • Internal Controls: Establish and maintain robust internal control policies and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance.
  • Operations Support: Partner closely with the Plant Manager and operations team to provide financial insights, support cost-saving initiatives, and analyze capital expenditure (CAPEX) proposals.
  • Systems Implementation: Play a key role in selecting and implementing ERP/MRP systems and accounting software as the plant scales.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as corporate accounting policies under US GAAP.
