ABOUT THE JOB OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for an Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of CAC’s revenue accounting and month-end close processes. This position is primarily responsible for revenue-related reconciliations, banking transactions, and journal entries, working closely with the Accounts Receivable Analyst, Senior Accountant, and Controller.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, mission-aligned professional who enjoys working with financial data, systems, and cross-functional teams to advance CAC’s contemplative mission. You’ll help ensure our financial reporting reflects our values of transparency, stewardship, and excellence all while providing a critical foundation for the transformative work we do.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, nonprofit preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required; Sage Intacct, Macros, and SQL preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, productivity, initiative, and reliability in past roles.

WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • This is a full-time, exempt role, hybrid role for someone based in Albuquerque or willing to relocate.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Able to see and read information on a computer screen clearly.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
  • Strong English-language written and verbal communication skills

JOB SPECIFICATIONS, COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This is a full-time, exempt position scheduled to begin as soon as possible. We’re looking for candidates who are located in Albuquerque, New Mexico or are open to relocation. We welcome candidates who are already located in the area or those open to relocating and we offer relocation assistance.
We are pleased to offer a salary range of $58,630-$73,287 annually (based on experience) for this position. Compensation ranges are established based on a grade system designed to ensure competitiveness with industry standards as well as pay equity. Final compensation will be determined based on the specific qualifications of the candidate in relation to the salary grade and predetermined criteria.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare timely and accurate cash receipt journal entries and general journal accrual entries in compliance with CAC accounting policies.
  • Reconcile and enter all ASL bank transfers, ensuring proper account coding.
  • Document and process miscellaneous banking activity, including chargebacks, royalties, and donations.
  • Review and reconcile data imported by the Accounts Receivable Analyst to ensure correct accounting treatment for donations, sales, and other revenue.
  • Maintain compliance with CAC accounting principles, policies, and procedures.
  • Reconcile assigned trial balance accounts, including Stripe, YTD Salesforce revenue vs. General Ledger, and unearned revenue liability accounts.
  • Support month-end close deadlines with accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide documentation for audits, 990 tax return preparation, and internal control testing.
  • Maintain accurate revenue recognition procedures and documentation.
  • Document workflows for revenue and banking tasks.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts Receivable Analyst to resolve discrepancies.
  • Serve as a backup for other Finance team members as needed.
  • Complete other special projects assigned by the Controller.
