Job Title: Accountant / Accountant in Training
Location: Fareham,
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm)
Salary: Dependant on experience and ability

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous accounting or finance experience is desirable but not essential for a trainee position
• Knowledge of purchase ledger, CIS, and VAT processes (training can be provided)
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
• Confident in using accounting software and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant or Accountant in Training to join our team in Fareham. This role offers the opportunity to develop your skills while working closely with our finance team to manage the company’s day-to-day accounting functions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring accuracy and timely processing of invoices
• Handle CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions and compliance
• Prepare and process VAT returns in line with HMRC requirements
• Monitor and manage day-to-day finances, including bank reconciliations and petty cash
• Assist with month-end processes and financial reporting
• Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal departments to resolve any discrepancies
• Support wider finance and administrative tasks as required
