Job Summary
The Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organization by managing and recording all financial transactions accurately. The role is responsible for preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations.
Proficiency in accounting software, strong analytical skills, and strong attention to detail are essential to track expenses and manage budgets. This position also requires effective communication skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders. In addition, the position plays a vital role in forecasting and financial planning, collaborating with senior management to align financial goals with business strategy.
Must be proficient in both German (written & spoken) and English (written & spoken).

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Accounting, Bookkeeping & Financial Reporting (Primary)
  • Bookkeeping & General Ledger Entry (sales & purchasing invoices, expenses, COGS, inventory, provisions,…)
  • Process accounts payables and receivables, ensuring timely processing and accuracy
  • Process general ledger reconciliations and month-end/year-end closing processes
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
  • On-time & accurate (monthly) reporting of financial statements to senior management and the mother company
  • Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
  • Prepare monthly VAT declaration/returns and ensure timely submission to relevant authorities
  • Support customer service with invoice administration, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing to clients
  • Budgeting & Financial Planning (Primary)
  • Coordinate and manage budgets, financial forecasts, and cost-control strategies
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to management
  • Assess financial risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Oversee cash flow management and liquidity planning
  • Financial Controlling & Compliance (Secondary)
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and internal policies
  • Develop and implement internal financial controls & mechanism to safeguard company assets
  • Lead Cost Controlling and support profitability analysis on work package level
  • Prepare tax returns and ensure timely submission to relevant authorities (optional)
  • Hands-on & Flexible Approach:
  • As a small to medium-sized aerospace company, the role requires a practical, hands-on approach to daily accounting tasks
  • Be adaptable and willing to assist and support the team in various (administrative) duties as needed
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth financial operations
  • Lead & develop ERP integration of all financial related functionalities and workstreams
  • Develop, standardize and improve VEU’s financial processes
  • Lead cross functional initiatives and finance related projects

Qualification and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws
  • Proficient knowledge & understanding of German GAAP accounting & regulation
  • Experience with DATEV accounting software is highly desirable
  • Experience with IFRS accounting is a plus
