THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical individual to join our team as an Accountant. In this role, reporting to the Finance Manager. You will co-ordinate the production of the financial data in accordance with the business needs and you will be responsible for a number of subsidiaries yourself. This needs to be produced in a timely and high-quality manner for the purpose of reporting, planning and control of the business processes. Undertake other general duties required within the department.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide assistance and understanding of main business areas such as transaction based staff, overheads and subsidiary companies.
  • Have an understanding and able to assist if required with purchase ledger, subcontract ledger and sales ledger, expenses and credit cards.
  • Provide comprehensive accounting support to the Finance Manager and Management Accountant.
  • Review and report monthly financial results.
  • Prepare and process journals ensuring allocation to the correct general ledger codes.
  • Assist with the production of budgets and updated forecasts for allocated cost centre and departments including overheads.
  • Assist with the production of monthly management accounts for cost centres including overheads to agreed time frames in compliance with company quality standards for all group companies.
  • Liaise with Operational Staff and Functional Department Managers.
  • · Assist the Finance Manager in the development and implementation of finance department processes, system improvements and policies to ensure continued improvement to meet changing business demands.
  • Assist with the production of Statutory VAT returns and ensuring that the Construction Industry Tax (CIS) returns are submitted on time and paid in a timely manner in accordance with HMRC regulations.
  • Produce Balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly basis for all balance sheet accounts.
  • Produce accrual and pre-payment schedules and agree to General Ledger balances.
  • Provide effective financial control of overhead cost items.
  • Help mentor and support the junior finance team members.
