SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-secondary education with 1-2 years of accounting experience.
  • Perusing a CPA or designation considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office 365.
  • Knowledge of Xero or other accounting software is considered an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Collaborative approach.
  • Demonstrated commitment to your ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work items with minimum direction.
  • Strong time management, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Employment is contingent on having a clean Criminal Record Check
Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Senior Accountant/Controller with the month-end closing process, which includes account reconciliations, journal entries recording, financial and management statement preparation.
  • Bank account reconciliation and posting of daily cash receipts.
  • Responsible for preparing claims, forecasts and analysis for all Newcomer Connections contracts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify trends, patterns and areas of improvement.
  • Filing of monthly HST.
  • Assisting with audit process.
  • Support the AP process during peak times.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support decision making.
  • Completion any other work-related tasks as required by your supervisor.
  • Model appropriate behaviours in line with the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick’s mission, vision and values; establishes rapport and maintains effective relationship building behaviour with staff, volunteers and members.
  • Represent the YMCA of Southwestern New Brunswick in a professional manner both in terms of relationships and documents circulated.
