POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Analyst will plan and direct the accounting activities of the Finance department to deliver timely and accurate financial data, assist with preparation of accurate financial statements and reports, maintain accounting procedures, practices, and principles in accordance with GAAP and cash-basis accounting. The Accounting Analyst will manage the day-to-day accounting process and report to the VP, Controller.

  • Five years or more of related experience required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Quickbooks Desktop and Cloud accounting software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance preferred)

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Other accounting software packages knowledge is a plus

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer/apply internal control policies, guidelines and practices for accounting transactions and budget preparation in accordance with GAAP
  • Assist with preparation of financial statements and supporting data schedules for internal and external parties
  • Prepares business activity and financial performance reports, financial forecasts, and annual budgets
  • Maintain financial statement closing schedule and aligns department functions and staff to meet timelines.
  • Review and confirm accuracy of all journal entries posted to general ledger
  • Complete regular bank reconciliations and prepare adjustments related adjustments
  • Reconcile and balance inter-company accounts for related party transactions
  • Maintain fixed asset ledger, compute and prepare amortization and depreciation entries
  • Assist with tax planning throughout the fiscal year
  • Support completion of all financial audits conducted by third-parties
  • Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies
  • Provide ad hoc reporting and financial analysis with an emphasis on project profitability, capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned
  • Submit invoices and ensuring timely payments to clients; prepare items for coding and approval
  • Review payment terms with clients and ensure proper billing
  • Follow up with clients to ensure timely payments & collections
  • Review requests for payment to ensure all required supporting documentation is provided; communicate with vendors and others to resolve problems and gather missing documentation so items can be approved and processed for payment on a timely basis
  • Respond to inquiries from vendors, personnel, and others regarding pending or paid items
  • Maintain organized files and provide material as needed for annual audit support
  • Account reconciliation on Accounts Payable
  • Account reconciliation on Accounts Receivables
  • Draft invoices for review and submit finalized invoices to customer.? Maintain records for Project Manager’s reference
  • Provide customer account statements, confirm invoice receipt, secure payment date and maintain collection notes in QuickBooks
