Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

We’re seeking a Finance and Accounting Manager who’s ready to bring their financial management experience into a role that offers both strategic impact and genuine work-life balance. Reporting directly to our President and CEO—a married couple who run the company together—this role is ideal for a candidate with 5+ years of finance and accounting management experience who’s eager to shape the future of a fast-growing, globally expanding toy and e-commerce business.
In this hands-on role, you’ll lead and standardize all core finance and accounting operations while mentoring a small, dedicated team. A major focus will be managing a critical systems upgrade and integration, transitioning us off QuickBooks and onto a scalable financial platform that streamlines accounting and operations company-wide. You’ll design, implement, and optimize financial processes that support growth, improve visibility, and reduce friction across departments including checking the team’s work before its part of our official monthly close.
You’ll also play a key role in managing our growing tax obligations—across multiple states and international markets—as we continue to expand and establish new tax nexuses. Your sharp financial insight and tax-savvy mindset will help us stay compliant, efficient, and forward-thinking.
This position is ideal for a self-directed manager who values autonomy, thrives in a collaborative environment, loves global expansion, and wants to leave a lasting mark by building infrastructure that supports scale. We reward integrity, results, and initiative—and we understand the importance of balance, flexibility, and a healthy, people-first workplace. (We’re also dog-friendly with 2-4 dogs in the office daily, if that’s a plus.)
Applicants must submit a personalized cover letter with their resume, outlining why this opportunity aligns with their personal and career goals. Pay is commensurate with experience and includes eligibility for health, dental, and vision insurance, paid vacation, and retirement plan benefits following a trial period. Due to the nature of managing our team daily, this position must be based in the office 5 days a week. Once a new ERP system has been implemented, we may be able to move the role and other accounting roles at the company to remote work on Fridays.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors’ degree in finance or related field, CPA or MBA is a plus but not a requirement.
  • Able to pass (with flying colors) extensive background and reference checks. There will be no exceptions made here.
  • Over 7 years’ experience in managerial accounting and/or financial management.
  • Knowledge of finance and accounting principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Familiarity with protocol for handling sensitive/confidential information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be highly organized and multi-task.
  • Accurate data entry skills (you need to be able to type at least 60 WPM).

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced Excel skills, ability to work with lookups and pivot tables.
  • Knowledge of Amazon Seller Central, Shopify, EDI protocols, and inventory management software a plus.
  • Tech savvy for learning new software related to e-commerce finance.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience in mid-sized or fast-growing organizations.
  • We are a rugged (but fun & casual) organization, and we need someone for this role who has the ability to roll up your sleeves, get in the weeds, and solve problems. The work WILL NOT get done here if you do not do it yourself.
