POSITION OVERVIEW

Fish Hippie is seeking a hands-on and highly organized Accounting & Operations Manager to oversee our financial management, human resources administration, and day-to-day business operations. In a small-business environment, this role requires someone who can balance leadership with execution — managing accounting and payroll, leading HR processes, supervising administrative staff, and ensuring smooth daily operations across departments.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable wearing multiple hats in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting and operations experience in a small-business environment.
  • Prior supervisory or management experience required.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks, BambooHR, and Microsoft Excel (Apparel Magic experience a plus).
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting, payroll practices, and HR compliance.
  • Highly organized with proven ability to meet recurring deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Hands-on, proactive approach — comfortable executing daily tasks as well as managing.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all AR/AP functions, including invoice entry, payments, collections follow-up, and customer credit approvals.
  • Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations (bank, credit cards, AR/AP, payroll liabilities).
  • Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and variance reporting.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly financial and sales reports (AR, AR by Rep, wholesale status, KPIs).
  • Calculate and process commissions, including statements, bills, and payments.
  • Oversee vendor payments, insurance ACHs, and employee reimbursements.
  • Produce monthly financial statements, KPI dashboards, and cash flow updates for leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP standards and readiness for audits or investor reporting.
