ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT/ACCOUNTS PAYABLE JOB DESCRIPTION
The Accounting Assistant is a cross functional role responsible for a variety of accounting, bookkeeping and financial tasks. The Accounting Assistant will provide clerical support for accounts payable, reporting and back up customer service roles as needed. The Accounting Assistant will interact with all levels of accounting, as well as the company and suppliers.
ACCOUNTING SKILLS
· Associate’s degree in accounting or related discipline is preferred.
· 1+ year of experience in accounting preferred.
· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Familiarity with financial software.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
· Self-starter, able to work independently.
· Critical thinking/common sense mentality.
· Typing proficiency.
· Organized, attention to detail, productive, and dependable.
· Effective oral and written communication skills.
· Ability to prioritize and effectively work on multiple projects.
· Enter and scan all Accounts Payable invoices into Quickbooks and obtain invoice approvals.
· Support accounting operations by scanning documents, filing documents, reconciling statements and general ledger accounts, including reconciliation of employee expense reports and employee credit cards.
· Assist with vendor maintenance ensuring vendor profiles are updated and maintained to meet company standards.
· Assist with accounts payable payment processing to include check, credit card, cash and ACH weekly payments ensuring all payments are posted in compliance with company standards and customer profile.
· Support the job-costing software, updating regularly.
· Process vehicle information for registration, insurance cards, and asset files.
· Assist with all customer service duties, including phone and reception, and backup of front desk when needed.
· Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
· Provide Support for miscellaneous projects/reports as requested by the Accounting Manager.
· Consistently maintain a professional manner.
· Other duties as assigned.
