JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant to join our dynamic finance team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards. This role is crucial in maintaining financial records, assisting with payroll management, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, PeopleSoft) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with financial software tools such as Kronos, UltiPro, or Ceridian is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping and debits & credits.
  • Experience with data entry and 10 key typing skills for efficient processing of financial information.
  • Knowledge of public accounting practices and non-profit accounting standards is advantageous.
  • Excellent math skills with a strong financial acumen to analyze financial data effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Perform general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries and account reconciliation.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP and SOX regulations.
  • Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Workday, or Sage for data entry and financial reporting.
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and assist in budgeting and forecasting activities.
  • Collaborate with team members on payroll management using systems like ADP or Paychex.
  • Prepare financial statements and reports for internal use, ensuring accuracy in financial concepts.
  • Assist in tax preparation and compliance for governmental or non-profit accounting as needed.
  • Engage in account analysis, credit analysis, and other technical accounting functions as required.
