REQUIREMENTS

  • Education & Years of Experience – Associate’s Degree and 3+ years of relevant experience; additional, relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Citizenship – To be considered, you must be a United States (U.S.) citizen due to the federal nature of the work.
  • Clearance – To be considered, you must be able to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance, if needed.
  • Must have a knowledge of electronic timekeeping systems, LANL craft payroll processes, and financial concepts.
  • Must have strong numerical accuracy and ability to perform arithmetic operations.
  • Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Email) and familiarity with financial software or ERP systems.
  • Must have understanding of confidentiality and handling of personally identifiable information (PII).
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear information exchange.
  • Must have strong organizational skills to manage priorities, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Must be an effective team player with a willingness to support others and take on new tasks.
  • Must have the ability to provide guidance, training, and mentorship to departmental staff when required.
  • Must be a detail-oriented professional who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • One (1) year work experience with LANL union craft timekeeping.
  • One (1) year work experience with spreadsheets, electronic financial or payroll systems.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Accounting Assistant, Payroll to join our team supporting the Los Alamos National Laboratory! This position is full-time and will be based out of Los Alamos, New Mexico with hybrid flexibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reporting to the Payroll Group Leader, responsible for:
  • union workers time and effort data entry,
  • timesheet verification,
  • customer service (emails & phone), and
  • electronic filing.
  • Work occasionally outside normal hours.
  • Maintain data accuracy with strong analytical and time management skills.
  • Act with independence, problem-solving ability, a strong work ethic, and a proven record of meeting deadlines and excellent attendance.
