Responsibilities

PURPOSE:

Supports accounting department in all aspects of accounting. Must have a good understanding of accounting principles and practices and as well as an excellent knowledge of MS Office. Will also possess good analytical, numerical, problem-solving skills. Attention to details and accuracy is required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintaining financial transaction records by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance
  • Develop a chart of accounts that defines bookkeeping policies and procedures
  • Maintain subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions
  • Assist in Preparation of financial statements, such as ledgers, income statements, and balance statements
  • Utilize the appropriate accounting software to manage and automate financial tasks when relevant
  • Assist with creating budgets, financial forecasts, and quarterly reports
  • Knowledge of essential accounting software
  • A general understanding of basic accounting principles such as accruals and revenue
  • Accounts payable knowledge and execution
  • Cash postings against invoices
  • Application of returns
  • Experience and knowledge in closing books
  • Ability to enter general ledger
  • Skilled in managing budgets
  • Experience in recording financial transactions
  • Experience using QuickBooks
  • Accurate and timely processing of payments and expenditures, including purchase orders, invoices, statements, checks, refund requisitions, in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Reconcile processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
  • Charge expenses to accounts and cost centers by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.
  • Pay vendors by monitoring discount opportunities; verifying federal id numbers; scheduling and preparing checks;
  • Research and resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies and documentation, prior to payment.
  • Ensure credit is received for outstanding memos; issuing stop-payments or purchase order amendments, if needed.
  • Pay employees by receiving and verifying expense reports and requests for advances; prepare checks.
  • Work closely to provide financial, clerical and administrative support to accounts receivable.
  • Maintain accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
  • Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
  • Maintain historical records and assists with monthly closings
  • Protect organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
  • Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales and Sales support teams.
  • Professionally communicate with colleagues
  • Participate and enhance Teamwork.
