They will help cover specific tasks when the accounting manager is out. They may be required to review financial statements to ensure accuracy, and reconcile general ledger accounts. Pay Range: $21.00 - $27.77 Supervisory Responsibilities: Reviewing financial documents prepared by staff to ensure they have been prepared correctly according to company policies and procedures. Using accounting software to maintain financial records for the company. Working with employees from other departments within the organization to ensure compliance with accounting standards. Overseeing occasionally the processing of final payroll checks and other compensation payments to employees. Reporting any accounting irregularities to senior management for further investigation. Assist in developing budgets based on projected revenues and expenditures to help ensure that the company has sufficient funds to operate successfully. Essential Functions: Duties/Responsibilities: Assist the Accounting Manager to ensure that all accounting transactions are properly recorded, filed, and processed in a timely manner. Review cash receipts, journal entries, invoices, and other accounting documents for accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures. Assist in the preparation and distribution of weekly and monthly financial reports to management. Assist with the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures. Assist in month-end and quarter-end closing activities. Assist in maintaining accurate records of fixed assets and depreciation. Assist with audits of internal controls and financial processes. Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper coding and approvals. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Prepare and process customer invoices. Apply customer payments and their deductions accurately to accounts. Monitor customer accounts for past-due balances and assist with collection efforts in accordance with company policy. Research and resolve billing discrepancies and customer account issues. Interpersonal skills and answering phones in main office. Qualifications Required Skills/Abilities: Associate’s degree in accounting or related field. 2+ years’ experience in an accounting role. Thorough understanding of GAAP standards. Proficient in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills Ability to learn accounting software offered by Richwood Meat Company. Outstanding organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills Preferred Skills and Qualifications Bilingual. Experience with ERP systems, such as SAP or Oracle Strong project management skills Communication is the act of transferring information from one person to another. Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times. No travel required. Education and Experience: An associate’s degree in accounting, business, or finance is a minimum requirement for an accounting clerk position. Experience can be substituted for education. Most accounting clerks receive on-the-job training, which may last for a few months to a year. Training for accounting duties will be ongoing and will help with specific processes and procedures of the accounting department. Certifications - Accounting clerks can earn certifications to gain more theoretical knowledge of their responsibilities, test their professional skills and further advance their career.
