Reports To: Property Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Clerk to support our property management team. This role is responsible for performing a variety of accounting, bookkeeping, and financial tasks to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for residential and/or commercial properties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, preferably in property management or real estate
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, accounting software, AppFolio & QuickBooks.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with property management systems
  • Familiarity with lease agreements and tenant billing
  • Understanding of fair housing and landlord-tenant laws (a plus)

Responsibilities
  • Process accounts payable and receivable transactions, including rent payments, vendor invoices, and utility bills
  • Reconcile bank statements and property accounts monthly
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Maintain accurate financial records for multiple properties
  • Prepare and distribute tenant statements, late notices, and other billing communications
  • Support the preparation of budgets and financial reports
  • Communicate with tenants and vendors regarding billing inquiries and payment status
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with audits and provide documentation as needed
  • Perform general administrative duties related to accounting and property management
