About the Role: The Accounting Clerk I plays a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the organization by accurately processing and maintaining financial records. This entry-level position is responsible for ensuring that all accounting transactions are recorded in compliance with company policies and accounting standards. The role involves handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling statements, and assisting with month-end and year-end closing activities. The Accounting Clerk I works closely with other members of the finance team to provide timely and accurate financial information that supports decision-making. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall financial integrity and efficiency of the organization by maintaining meticulous records and supporting audit processes. Minimum Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent required. * Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial terminology. * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy. * Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. * Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Preferred Qualifications: * Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. * Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle. * Previous experience in an accounting or clerical role. * Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes. * Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with vendors and team members. Responsibilities: * Process and verify invoices, expense reports, and purchase orders to ensure accuracy and proper authorization. * Maintain and update accounting ledgers and databases with financial transactions. * Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. * Assist in preparing financial reports and summaries for management review. * Support month-end and year-end closing activities by gathering and organizing financial data. * Communicate with vendors and internal departments to resolve billing issues and discrepancies. * Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting regulations in all financial documentation. Skills: The required skills such as attention to detail and proficiency in Microsoft Excel are essential for accurately entering and reconciling financial data on a daily basis. Basic accounting knowledge enables the clerk to understand transaction types and ensure proper classification in the ledger. Compensation: The budget range for this position is $47k-$49.5k CAD.
