Description Time Commitment: Part-time (15–20 hours per week) Internship Length: 8–10 weeks, with potential for a permanent role Reports To: Controller Status: Hourly Compensation: $15–$18/hour (DOE) We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Accounting Clerk Intern to join our growing finance team. This internship is designed for students or recent graduates who are eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional accounting environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive self-starter with a strong interest in accounting and finance who is excited to contribute while developing real-world skills in financial reporting, reconciliations, and process improvement. This role offers exposure to core accounting functions and the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals. Duties & Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Support: Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and identify discrepancies Support month-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries and documentation Assist with AP/AR month-end adjusting entries and related analysis Contribute to improving the accuracy and efficiency of month-end reporting Support budgeting, financial oversight, and internal reporting activities Assist with preparation for annual audits, including gathering, creating, and organizing supporting documentation Operational & Process Support: Communicate with clients to help resolve basic billing and insurance-related inquiries Collaborate with third-party insurance billing partners Help document and improve internal accounting procedures and workflows Support the development of documentation for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Perform additional accounting and administrative tasks as needed Requirements Qualifications Education & Experience: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field Foundational understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, basic financial modeling, and reporting) Familiarity with accounting software; QuickBooks Online experience is a plus Experience with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Gmail, etc.) preferred Core Competencies: Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills Effective written and verbal communication Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaborate in a team setting Adaptable with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn What You’ll Gain Hands-on experience with real-world accounting processes and financial operations Exposure to month-end close, reporting, and audit preparation Mentorship from experienced accounting professionals Opportunity to contribute to process improvements in a growing company Work reference, depending on performance Potential for future full-time employment based on performance
