Description TITLE: Accounting Clerk DEPARTMENT: Finance Department REPORTS TO: Accounting Manager ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Responsibilities: Perform double entry bookkeeping tasks, including recording financial transactions and maintaining accurate records Process accounts payable and ensure timely payment of invoices Prepare and post journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts to ensure accuracy Assist with financial analysis and reporting as needed Maintain confidentiality of financial information and adhere to company policies and procedures SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. Assist with Accounting Office issues as needed, i.e., billing inquiries, administrative duties, etc. Additional duties as necessary and assigned. Requirements SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Most work tasks are performed independently. There is minimal direct supervision. Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, accounting programs, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to prepare, implement and update the Strategic Sales Plan and ability to analyze financial statements and market data. Effective ability to supervise and motivate staff to maintain optimal department operation and staff development. Extensive knowledge of competitive hotels (upper, direct and lower tier). Complete knowledge of hotel rooms and meeting related services available to guests. Ability to use/manipulate the Central Reservation, Yield Management and Property Management Systems for tracking, forecasting and executing optimal selling strategies. Comprehension and understanding of the reservation and group sales process. Able to develop and manage department budget. Ability to analyze financial statements and market data. Ability to develop and deliver training and effective presentations. Desire to participate as part of a team. Demonstrate self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm. Present ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way. Ability to negotiate and create win-win solutions. Ability to assess and analyze financial reports. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 4 hours per day. Walking and standing are required the rest of the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis. Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning and inspection tasks. Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, electric typewriter, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed. AVAILABILITY This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. Generally, the position works Monday through Friday with hours varied based on business demand. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Saturdays and Sundays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determines the amount of hours that you work.
Responsibilities
