JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Accounting Clerk
POSITION STATUS: Full Time – Permanent (Non-Union)
SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week – 9 am to 5 pm
REPORTS TO: Finance Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Finance or Finance Manager, the Accounting Clerk is primarily responsible for the accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciliations, capital assets schedule, fund balances, and accuracy of journal entries for Bob Rumball Canadian Centre of Excellence for the Deaf (BRCCED), Bob Rumball Foundation (BRFD) and Bob Rumball Camp for the Deaf (OCD).
About the Role:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance, Controller, or Finance Manager, the Accounting Clerk plays a key role in supporting our finance operations. This includes managing accounts payable/receivable, performing reconciliations, assisting with audits, and maintaining financial records across multiple entities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and review A/P and A/R transactions
  • Prepare and post journal entries; ensure ledgers and subledgers are accurate
  • Reconcile monthly balance sheets and assist with audit preparation
  • Support internal billing, deposits, and intercompany transactions
  • Maintain capital asset schedules and fund balances
  • Generate monthly departmental reports
  • Participate in finance orientation for volunteers and placement students
  • Provide backup and leadership support to A/P and A/R roles
  • Maintain organized filing systems and uphold confidentiality
  • Other finance-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Finance/Accounting
  • Diploma/Certificate in Accounting or related
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP Accounting principles
  • Excellent computer skills, Intermediate proficiency in Excel, average skills in MS office
  • Experience using Great Plains and QuickBooks Software
  • Experience working with the Deaf community an asset.
  • Experience in non-profit environment is an asset.
  • Ability to communicate with deaf staff and knowledge of Deaf culture is an asset.
  • Highly developed organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and time management skills
  • Effective verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Possesses a valid full G driver’s license.
