Description Position Overview: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. This role supports the accounting team by performing essential bookkeeping functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a solid understanding of accounting principles, particularly in the construction industry. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable: Process vendor invoices and ensure timely payments. Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies. Prepare checks and electronic payments. Accounts Receivable: Generate and distribute customer invoices. Record customer payments and apply them to the appropriate accounts. Follow up on past-due accounts and assist in collections as needed. General Ledger Management: Record daily financial transactions and maintain accurate general ledger accounts. Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes. Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards and financial statements. Administrative Support: Assist with special projects and support the Controller as needed. Maintain confidentiality of financial information. Qualifications: Principals of Accounting course completion (preferred). 4+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Vista (Viewpoint) or industry-specific ERP systems). Strong understanding of basic accounting principles (GAAP). Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Skills: Experience with project-based accounting and cost tracking.
