Description We are seeking an experienced Accounting Consultant with a strong background in accounts payable to oversee expenditure processes, optimize vendor relationships, and support financial compliance initiatives. This role involves managing the end-to-end accounts payable functions, overseeing staff, administering procurement card programs, and ensuring adherence to financial regulations such as 1099 reporting requirements. Key Responsibilities: Accounts Payable Management: Oversee and manage the accounts payable process. Team Supervision: Direct and support accounts payable staff by prioritizing workflow, ensuring deadlines are met, and maximizing cost savings through early payment discounts and efficient issue resolution. Vendor Relationship & Contract Oversight: Administer contracts with invoice processing vendors and maintain high standards of vendor satisfaction through timely issue resolution. Vendor Master File Maintenance: Manage and update the vendor master database, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial standards. Procurement Card Program Management: Oversee all aspects of the P-card and Commercial Card programs, ensuring proper use, compliance, and reconciliation. 1099 Reporting Compliance: Prepare and issue vendor 1099s post-year-end, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS guidelines. EHS Compliance Leadership: Promote a culture of safety and compliance by holding team members accountable to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and practices, conducting evaluations, and implementing improvements. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in accounts payable. At least 2 years of supervisory or team leadership experience in an accounting environment. Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and electronic invoicing platforms. Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word Working knowledge of 1099 reporting requirements. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proven leadership and team development abilities. Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities
The Accounting Consultant will oversee and manage the accounts payable process while directing and supporting the accounts payable staff. This role also involves optimizing vendor relationships and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
