Job Title: General Ledger Staff Accountant
Reports To: Accounting Manager / Controller
Location: Albuquerque, NM
Job Type: Full-Time

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical General Ledger Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to accuracy.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3–5 years of experience in general ledger accounting or related field.
  • Experience with government contracting (GovCon) accounting practices is highly desired.
  • Payroll processing experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Quick-books
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong understanding of GAAP and familiarity with FAR/DFARS regulations.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and post journal entries for routine and non-routine transactions.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  • Maintain and ensure accuracy of the general ledger by performing periodic reviews and adjustments.
  • Analyze financial data and prepare financial reports for management.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and respond to internal and external audit requests.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Support the implementation and documentation of new accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and relevant tax laws.
  • Participate in payroll processing and reconciliation, as needed.
  • Perform other ad hoc accounting duties and projects as assigned.
