This role is structured to mirror entry-level staff accountant responsibilities under supervision and guidance.   KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:   * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with team leaders, corporate leadership, owners, and residents. * Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines efficiently. * A passion for chasing excellence and providing exemplary customer service. * Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial concepts * Strong attention to detail and accuracy * Ability to work with financial data and spreadsheets * Strong organizational and time-management skills * Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information   ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:   * Assist with accounts payable processing, including invoice review and coding * Support monthly and periodic close activities, including reconciliations and schedules * Assist with preparation and review of property-level financial statements * Help enter journal entries and support general ledger maintenance * Perform basic variance analysis and assist with financial reporting * Organize and maintain accounting documentation and support audit requests * Assist with special accounting projects and process improvements as assigned * Perform all other duties as assigned.     SPECIFIC EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE:   * Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field * Completion of introductory accounting coursework preferred * Proficiency in Microsoft Excel strongly preferred * Prior internship, coursework, or project experience is a plus but not required     PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:   * Frequently sit, stand and walk. * Regularly required to talk or hear. * Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. * Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. * Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. * Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. * Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary. Capstone Project: Property Accounting Process & Controls Review Objective: Evaluate and document key accounting processes to improve consistency, efficiency, and clarity. Project Components: * Review core accounting workflows (AP, AR, close, reconciliations) * Identify recurring issues, bottlenecks, or risk areas * Document standard procedures and recommended improvements * Develop checklists or timelines for recurring accounting tasks Final Deliverables: * Accounting process flow documentation * Monthly close checklist or process guide * Summary of improvement recommendations * Sample reconciliations or reporting support Presentation Focus: How standardization and documentation reduce errors and support scalability.
