EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • CPA preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in accounting management.
  • Previous inventory/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in agriculture industry preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Experience with month-end close processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
  • Ability to analyze financial data and present findings to management
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting a plus
  • Strong communication skills for communicating with departmental staff, internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on being detail orientated
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Ability to prioritize projects, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines on an individual and departmental basis
  • Above average organizational skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Ability to assess the accuracy of financial statements

Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Ensure all accounting tasks are completed with a sense of urgency and accuracy to meet deadlines, ensuring the smooth operation of month-end closings.
  • Assist in maintaining the general ledger, including preparing journal entries and reviewing balances to ensure proper classification and reporting.
  • Review accounting procedures and policies to ensure there is a consistent method for handling the processes, and regularly follow up to provide updates, improvements, and training.
  • Apply GAAP knowledge to include cash, receivables, inventory, fixed assets, payables, and equity.
  • Use experience with IT system implementations for optimizing projects.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the company’s financial software and coop accounting.
