Overview: The Accounting Manager at the Canopy by Hilton at Deer Valley plays a critical leadership role, overseeing the daily accounting operations and financial control functions of our new luxury lifestyle hotel. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timely reporting of all financial data, adhering strictly to Hilton brand standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and local regulations. This role will actively support the Director of Finance in all financial oversight, reporting, and strategic planning for the hotel. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented professional with a strong hospitality background who can manage the full cycle of property accounting and contribute to the overall financial health of the hotel. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting & Control: Prepare detailed and accurate Balance Sheets Reconciliation for all asset and liability accounts, ensuring proper documentation and support for all balances Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, internal controls, and GAAP. Daily Revenue & Cash Management: Perform Income Audit / Review to reconcile daily revenues, charges, and settlements from all departments (Rooms, F&B, Retail, etc.). Prepare and post accurate and timely Journal Entries, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications. Manage and reconcile the General Cashier/Bank Audits, ensuring proper handling, security, and deposit of all cash and cash equivalents. Accounts Receivable (AR) Manage and process Loyalty billing (e.g., Hilton Honors). Process and reconcile Travel Agent Commissions accurately and timely. Manage Guest billing and inquiries, including direct billing, groups, and transient accounts receivable. Perform Posting Masters Reconciliation for group and convention accounts, ensuring all charges are accurately transferred and settled. Accounts Payable (AP) & Expense Management Oversee the complete Accounts Payable cycle, including receiving, coding, and processing invoices. Process and audit all employee Expense Reports for compliance with hotel policy. Reconcile and manage the hotel's Purchasing Cards Reconciliations. Third-Party & Complex Reconciliations Conduct meticulous Third-Party Reconciliation for various revenue streams and expenses, including: Food & Beverage (F&B) and Room Charges. Parking revenue and expenses. Laundry services. Other key operating third-party services. Qualifications Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience in hotel accounting/finance. Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting, with at least 1-2 years in a hospitality or hotel environment. Proven knowledge of hotel accounting systems (e.g., OnQ, M3, BirchStreet, ProfitSword, etc.) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of GAAP and internal control principles. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and concisely to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Experience with Hilton brand accounting policies is a significant plus. Skills: Proficiency with major property management systems (e.g., OnQ PMS) and back-office accounting software (e.g., M3, Sage, or similar). Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, complex reconciliation, and financial modeling. GAAP: Solid working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial best practices. Proven ability to analyze discrepancies, investigate variances, and resolve complex accounting issues effectively. Strong time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet strict month-end deadlines.
