Accounting Manager
Diesel & Auto Electric, Dartmouth, NS
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team! Flexible work arrangements are available for this position. Business operating hours are 8-5 Monday – Friday, no weekends.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Cycle Accounting and Financial Statements: Prepare monthly financial statements, and assist with year-end financial statement preparation
  • Payroll Management: Process payroll on a regular basis and ensure accuracy in reporting to government agencies (processing ROEs and year end T4s)
  • Group Insurance Administration: adding and removing employees as necessary and updating rates as needed
  • Government filings and reconciliations: Prepare and process HST filings, Worker’s Compensation reporting, pay import fees to broker and CBSA, file Stats Canada reports
  • Occupational Health & Safety: Perform monthly checks of safety equipment and participate in monthly OHS meetings
  • Efficiencies: Find solutions to make accounting or business processes more efficient
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with other employees and proactively communicate with owners

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in accounting
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive accounting experience in an accounting position
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in computer operation including Microsoft Office suite, (intermediate Excel abilities), and motivation to learn new accounting software programs
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Well organized, possess a good work ethic and a positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Hard working, self-accountable and solution-oriented

Wages are commensurate with experience.
