JOB SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager for the Accounts Payable department is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting including timely and accurate payments of invoices, payroll, vendor payments, bank statement reconciliation, auditing expense reports, and ensuring timely and accurate journal entries in out accounting software, NetSuite. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Accounting Manager supervises staff and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and assisting with year-end audit preparation.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Accounting preferred.
  • Payroll, benefits, accounts payable, bank statement reconciliation experience is required.
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Minimum of Five to seven years progressive experience in Accounting Management.
  • Extensive knowledge of Excel and ability to create pivot tables, formulas, and workbooks to analyze data and produce reports.
  • Extensive knowledge of Accounting and business applications. NetSuite by Oracle experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated experience with transportation management software. Prior use of Xcelerator or similar software package is preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail oriented.
  • Accounts Receivables experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Access to reliable transportation. If driving an automobile while on company business, must possess a valid driver’s license in state of residence and auto insurance. Must be able to pass a background check, MVR, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Organizational Management

  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close.
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Collaborates with the other department managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Responds to inquiries from the CFO, Controller, and other finance and organizational wide managers regarding financial results, special reporting requests and the like.
  • Works with the Controller to ensure a clean and timely year end audit.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.
  • Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.
  • Supports Controller with special projects and workflow process improvements.
