SUMMARY

Oversee the daily operations of the Accounting Department, ensuring accurate and timely financial records and reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting practices and Credit Union policies.

THE SALARY RANGE FOR THIS POSITION IS $97,000-$121,000/YEAR, DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university in Accounting and minimum three years of experience in month-end close process, accounts payable, and account/ledger reconciliation. Financial institution experience is a plus. In addition, three years of prior management experience required.

OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Demonstrated experience using reporting software and tools to include but not limited to Microsoft Great Plains, SAP Concur, Symitar, and Microsoft Office products.
Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to assimilate best practices into daily routine.
Ability to follow detailed and standardized procedures trained verbally, in writing, or by way of hands on instruction.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain accounting records for various financial activities like investments, payroll, and mortgages.
  • Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closings.
  • Prepare and post accruals for payroll, taxes, interest, dividends, and other expenses.
  • Oversee and review monthly reconciliations for accounts such as cash, fixed assets, and prepaid expenses.
  • Supervise the Accounts Payable process, including vendor payments and 1099s.
  • Collaborate with auditors and examiners to provide required documentation.
  • Review standard procedures for accounting and accounts payable processes.
  • Assist other departments with general ledger and financial statement-related issues.
  • Research and address complex accounting issues, recommending process improvements.
  • Stay updated on accounting principles, regulations, and practices.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervises designated staff in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
