POSITION: Accounting Manager
SUMMARY: This position supports the Accounting Department in recording and retrieving financial details of the company, including maintaining financial records.
REPORTS TO: Sr Director of Accounting
FLSA STATUS: Full-time, Exempt

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL EXPECTATIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Sr Director of Accounting to develop and maintain strong internal controls, procedures and strategic goals.
  • Manage Property Management Accounting team.
  • Review and post transactions to ensure accuracy and integrity of the general ledger.
  • Review and approve work products from staff accountants.
  • Review monthly financial statements prepared by staff accountants.
  • Prepare and/or review audit workpapers as necessary to complete corporate and subsidiary audits.
  • Prepare and/or review financial compliance reports required by funding agencies.
  • Oversee property management recurring journal entries.
  • Assist with Impact Seven invoicing to properties and Impact Management Group.
  • Backup property accountants.
  • Assist with Impact Seven financial statement preparation.

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend appropriate meetings and training sessions.
  • Maintain education and professional expertise through attendance at job-related seminars, conferences and workshops.
    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBLITIES: Yes, manage a team of accounting professions assigned to Property Management.
    QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: An advanced degree in business, accounting, management, or a field appropriate to the essential duties and responsibilities is required. Three to five years of relevant work experience is required. A Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
    TECHNOLOGY SKILLS: Proficient with MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Yardi is preferred.
    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are required. Ability to communicate professionally and cultivate positive working relationships with a diverse range of people, both internal and external to the organization is essential. Communicate optimistically, positively, and with honesty and openness.
    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to perform, understand and interpret financial reports, including pro-forma income statements and balance sheets. Ability to do basic algebra is required. An understanding of percentages, rates of return and ratios is important.
    REASONING SKILLS: Ability to balance expectations with available financial and human resources will be a critical requirement for the organization’s long-term success.
    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: The Manager of Accounting must be able to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Good organizational skills and attention to detail are a must. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all organizational information.
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid driver’s license with current vehicle insurance is required to meet the position’s travel requirements, as needed.
