ROLE OVERVIEW:
Manages the execution of accounting tasks including, but not limited to, accounts payable, month-end journal entries, sales tax returns, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, financial reporting, and others as assigned by the Controllers. Candidate must demonstrate knowledge of US GAAP, knowledge of the construction industry, be organized, be a self-starter, ability to proceed and follow through with action plans, and provide solution implementation and improvements with minimal monitoring from management.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.1 Performs day-to-day accounting activities on a timely and accurate basis to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end financial statement close and financial records are maintained in compliance with GAAP and company policies and procedures.
1.2 Prepare, record, and supervise monthly close within the prescribed close schedule; journal entries, account reconciliations, roll forwards, accruals, reclassifications, intercompany transactions, and other supporting schedules; actively investigate reconciling items/variances and resolve timely.
1.3 Responsible for preparation of Work-in-Process schedules for monthly reporting: working closely with the controllers to ensure the accuracy of project work completed, contract values, estimated costs, total billings, and reconciliation to the trial balance.
1.4 Preparation/oversight of sales tax for assigned business units.
1.5 Supports the controllers with monthly and quarterly financial statements preparation and analysis.
1.6 Works efficiently with team members within accounting and across departments/companies to implement changes and complete special projects required as part of company-wide goals and objectives.
1.7 Provides oversight and support for the Accounts Payable Department and lower levelpersonnel within the Accounting Department.
1.8 Supports the controllers on various audits throughout the year (insurance, workers compensation, Union Dues, and financial audits).
1.9 Responsible for yearly review and issuance of vendor’s 1099s.
1.10 Provides support for yearly, and monthly budgeting review and updates.
1.11 Cross-trained in various accounting functions/roles to perform as backup to ensure
continuity of company-wide/intercompany accounting functions.
1.12 Identify opportunities for improvement by reviewing current processes for automation, consolidation, or reengineering.
1.13 Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
This role is on-site based out of the Apopka, FL office.
3.1 Bachelor’s Degree in accounting
3.2 Minimum 5 years of experience working in an accounting role within a corporate environment
3.3 Construction experience is required
3.4 In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and regulations
3.5 Knowledge of accounting systems and applications such as Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, PeopleSoft, or similar ERP systems and applications
3.6 Advanced Excel skills: formulas, v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.
3.7 Ability to work proactively, solve problems, and make decisions with minimal supervision
3.8 Set clear objectives and monitor processes and progress
