POSITION SUMMARY

The Accounting Manager, MegaFood is responsible for the hands-on leading and executing of daily operations for the MegaFood accounting department, including month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations and treasury management. This role will play a key part in developing and maintaining accounting practices and procedures to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements. The Accounting Manager reports to the MegaFood Controller and manages a team of two Accountants.

Responsibilities

Critical contributions this role is counted on to deliver include:

  • Process and System Improvements: Identify and implement process improvement and automation within accounting systems to enhance efficiency, strengthen controls and improve accuracy.
  • Foster a high-performance work environment by developing staff’s technical and interpersonal skills; setting clear objectives, communicating goals, providing constructive feedback, conducting timely performance evaluations, and maintaining open communication with direct reports on work and results. 2+ years of management experience required.
  • Month-end: Manage month-end process, working alongside Accounting Operations and Finance teams to ensure accurate and timely processes. Complete journal entries and account reconciliations, and review and approve entries for direct reports. Prepare monthly Trial Balance for submission to corporate.
  • Compliance and Controls: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and adherence to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). Assist in implementation and maintenance of a strong system of internal controls, ensuring accurate financial data and mitigating risks of fraud or error.
  • Tax & Audit: Responsible for sales tax compliance utilizing 3rd Party system (Avalara). Coordinate preparation of documentation and support schedules for submission to Income Tax and Audit teams.
