Description

Petra Construction Corp. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support financial decision-making within our company. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of construction accounting principles, project-based financial reporting, and strong leadership skills to manage a small accounting team. Reporting to the CFO, this is a key role that collaborates with project managers, estimators, and senior leadership on financial planning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • 7-10 years’ relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory role.
  • Prior experience in construction accounting is strongly preferred.
  • Advanced software capabilities and skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Adobe Acrobat as well as the ability to use accounting-specific and industry-specific software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Procore, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of job costing, billing cycles, and WIP reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities
  • Manage all general accounting functions including AR, AP, GL, and payroll.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes, prepare financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Manage contract billing, change orders, and retention tracking.
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and tax filings.
  • Monitor cash flow and provide forecasting support.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Review and analyze job cost and billing data to confirm accuracy and process billing for projects.
  • Prepare WIP reports.
